Mark Maclean is a singer, songwriter and musician from Greenock, Scotland. With a varied sound derived from eclectic influences such as Neil Young, John Lennon, The La's and various soul & rock and roll artists, Mark continues to write songs with the aim to capture the audience with relatable lyrics that build up to choruses that will get stuck in your head and make you want to sing along with. With the love of playing live, Mark continues to gig relentlessly, mostly around the west coast of Scotland.

Mark served his time as frontman and songwriter of The Beat Movement, touring up and down the country playing various festivals and in some of the best venues and clubs in the UK such as Liverpool's Cavern Club, Manchester's Sound Control and Glasgow's King Tuts. In 2016, Mark and TBM went on tour in Italy which was filmed by Pat McGuire (@pmgphotog) to create a feature length on-tour rockumentary (find The Beat Movement - Italian Job Tour on youtube). While The Beat Movement spent some time on a hiatus, Mark and Chris joined up with 2/3 of The Blue Lenas to create Kartel, who released a self titled EP in 2017 before burning out in different directions.

Lately, Mark has been focusing more on his solo career and released his debut solo album in December 2019. A followup EP with his band was then released in September 2020.

Marks latest single “Elevation” will be released on 27th June 2024 and will be available on all digital platforms as are all previous singles, EPs and Albums.

Elevation is a fast paced, guitar led number that is dragged along the track at full speed by the catchy driving bass and drums. The chorus adds a psychedelic element to the track loaded with harmonies and wah-wah guitar riffs. For such a short song, Elevation packs in a lot of substance in its two and a half minutes including space for a harmonica solo. The meaningful lyrics adds a positive perspective on a hectic time to be alive.

Writing on the Wall and was released on 17th December 2021. This stripped back, acoustic driven track with an upbeat punk vibe building up to the chorus of "Ill never hide, the feeling of feeling alive" was written, performed and recorded by Mark before the final mix was compiled at Eggman Studios. You can listen now to 'Writing on the Wall' via the Jukebox player below.

Read Between the Lines (Single) - 16/04/21

Read Between The Lines was released on 16th April 2021 and has since been raking in the great reviews. Recorded at Eggman studio - Glasgow, he teams up with the guys behind his 2019 live album 'Live & Unhinged' for a full band track and his latest offering  since releasing 'Sign of the Times EP' in September 2020.

The Songbird“Read Between The Lines” is a superb offering from the Scotsman. It’s not often that I’m sent new music and I immediately on first listen fall in love. If this is a sign of things to come from Mark Maclean, then I definitely can’t wait to hear more!"

Snake Oil Music - "Mark is a very talented underground artist that deserves a lot more recognition that he is getting. He has a very varied sound with something in his music for everyone to enjoy. Built around a catchy, driving bass riff in the verses, the dynamics rise to an infectious chorus with jangly guitars and Coral-esque harmonies. The song breaks down in the middle to let Mark’s outstanding vocals and acoustic guitar take the spotlight creating such a perfect and soothing combination."

Sign of the Times EP - 26/09/2020
